Area streets remained closed as members of Bergen County SWAT and Regional Crisis Negotiation teams joined borough police at the Maiden Lane home after the standoff began around 12:30 p.m.
It continued for more than five hours before the SWAT team forced its way in and seized the woman without further incident.
She was taken to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus for an evaluation.
